Nice pair of French percussion pistols circa 1840. Flush-faced barrels, slightly blunderbussed at the muzzle, bronzed finish, enhanced by 2 gilded fillets on the breech side and a gilded fillet near the muzzle. Hair stripes. Each barrel is stamped 3 times with the letter B in a lozenge. On one, partially visible M hallmark, on the other, St Etienne hallmark and number 25. Flat-bodied percussion caps. Iron fittings, rounded caps with straight edges. Total length approx. 25.5 cm. Nail-type metal rods. Functional mechanisms. Good condition, wear and patina.
