Long flintlock pistol. Round barrel, approximately 37.5 cm long. Flat-body flintlock lock, engraved and signed "BELLAN A SALECH". BELLAN was a harquebusier in Saleich, near Toulouse in Haute Garonne, circa 1730/1740. Flat-bodied gooseneck hammer. All iron fittings. Finely chased, openwork thumbpiece, a blank oval surmounted by a Duke's crown, below a fantastic animal head. Long-eared cap, elaborate trigger guard, hood and rod-holder trigger guard in elongated barrels. Beautifully mounted in tiger walnut. Total length approx. 55.2 cm. Walnut ramrod with iron head. Functional mechanism. Good condition, with wear and patina.
