Pistol created by a Russian inventor living in Switzerland, Mr. Burkartdt Behr. The Sauer Sohn firm buys the rights to his pistol from Mr. Behr through Emil Finke. Sauer Sohn put the gun into production and marketed it under the name "Bär".Bär system centerfire pistol model 1897, four shots, two superimposed blued barrels, signed: "BÄR-PISTOL", 7 mm caliber; flat blued steel frame; flat four-chamber loading block, mounted on a central pin and held by a pusher on the top of the frame, hallmarked, it bears the inscriptions, on one side: "DEUTSCHLAND 98382 -PATENT -BELGIEN 134215" and, on the other: "ENGLAND 11998 -RUSSLAND -NORD. AMERIKA", underneath serial number 3999, retractable trigger tail; squared stock plates, rod screwed to rear of stock; length 15.7 cm. Late 19th century. Functional mechanism, good condition. In a tan leather holster with aluminum trim.
