Late 18th century hunting harquebus. Lock fully engraved wit - Lot 239
Late 18th century hunting harquebus. Lock fully engraved with vegetal motifs, no visible signature. Hound engraved with marine motifs. Smooth hilt cover. Engraved spring blades. Octagonal barrel, slightly blunderbussed at the muzzle, 75.4 cm long, rifled, caliber between partitions approx. 14.2 mm, diameter between rifling bottoms approx. 20.2 mm. On the upper side of the barrel, unfortunately illegible harquebusier marks. Iron trigger guard with phalanx rest, an old repair between the ergonomic part and the vertical part of the trigger guard. Double trigger but not functional. Walnut stock carved with floral and vegetal motifs, enhanced with bone inserts, notably at the counterplate screws. In the stock is a drawer containing a later cocking key and a few spare parts. Wood and bone drawer cover. Wooden ramrod with bone handle. Od hood and ramrod channel. Overall length approx. 106 cm. Mechanism to be completely revised. Significant wear, nice patina.
