After Affortunato GORY (1895-1925) - Lot 162
After Affortunato GORY (1895-1925)
Portrait of a young woman with a bonnet
White marble and ormolu proof on a sea-green marble pedestal. Signed on the back of the shoulder in the garment.
Dimensions: 48 x 33 x 18 cm
A sculptor of Florentine origin, Gory sent works to the Paris Salon at the turn of the century in which bronze was frequently mixed with marble or ivory. Mythology and the Italian Renaissance are two major sources of inspiration in his work, as is the Orient. We also owe him a number of female statuettes in the Art Nouveau spirit, bust or full-length.
