Chirvan carpet (warp, weft and wool pile), Northeast Caucasus, circa 1940-1970 160 x 120 The rug features a mihrab enhanced by a large polychrome cartouche on an ivory background with geometric floral motifs and an old-red counter-ground. A wide ivory border with geometric flower garlands is framed by numerous counter-borders. Wear, old restorations, discoloration and fraying.
